Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian

* Picture from Amazon*

Format read: Paperback

Rating: 5 out of 10

Plot: Lillia, Kat, and Mary decide to come together to plot revenge on those who have hurt them.  The girls agree to help each other get revenge on the one who has hurt them, but when their plots don’t go as planned, they must deal with the consequences of their actions.

Opinion: I’m conflicted with how to rate this book.  I think as far as YA books go, this was a pretty good one.  I thought the plot was engaging and unlike some of the other books in this genre, it kept me guessing right until the very end.  However, I thought the characters were a little cliche and stereotypical: there was the popular cheerleader, the bully quarterback, the bad girl, the shy new girl.  I think the book would’ve been better if the authors had taken the time to come up with original characters, and it was kind of annoying to read such cliched characters.  Overall, it’s a good example of the genre, but if you tend to read adult books, this may be a little disappointing.
